The People Mentor provides practical people management training and mentoring for managers, business owners, and the leaders who support them.
Through The Manager's Academy, a monthly membership, managers get hands-on support with the real situations they face at work, including difficult conversations, performance issues, feedback, conflict, and team dynamics. I also offer a dedicated Difficult Conversations programme for managers and leaders who need focused, practical support with the conversations they find hardest to have.
Alongside this, I work one to one with managers and business owners through mentoring, helping them build the confidence and the capability to lead their people well. Everything I do is grounded in over 33 years of real workplace experience, not theory.
I am Nicola Richardson, founder of The People Mentor and creator of The Manager's Academy. With over 33 years of experience working with managers, my background spans the Civil Service, HMRC, and front-line leadership. I hold Chartered Fellow status with the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr FCMI). I have spent the majority of my career helping managers and the organisations around them do better by their people, and that includes working with founders, directors, and senior leaders who want their management layer to perform without constant involvement from the top.
My work is built on a simple belief: management is a skill that requires ongoing development, and when managers are properly supported, the whole business benefits. I work with people through group training, one-to-one mentoring, and my dedicated Difficult Conversations programme.
